Wendy's Weekly STOCK MARKET Report "Big tech and AI stocks falter" Presented by Wendy Nelson
Market Week: October 19, 2026
The Markets (as of market close October 16, 2026)
Wall Street was volatile, with big tech and AI stocks faltering after carrying the market for much of the year. Overvaluation concerns drove investors out of semiconductor and AI shares. The latest inflationary data showed prices moving higher, particularly energy and gasoline. Consumer staples, health care, and energy led the market sectors, while information technology fell 6.60%. Treasury yields declined, mostly in response to a brief rally in equities last Thursday. Geopolitical tensions continued to push energy prices higher.
